CHICKENS FLY IN READING

Hi everyone.  Esther here.  I was hoping to get video of these flying chickens.  They didn't actually fly on their own but there was an agreement that Marilyn and Minerva could go to Reading, Hennsylvania when "chickens fly".

I'm going to let Minerva tell you about the trip as I had to verify that what Marilyn brought home was NOT stolen.

Hi everyone.  Minerva here.   We first stopped at a few places before going to Reading.  We wanted to hear about the coal mines in Ashland.   Almost took extra feather because Marilyn said that we were going to a  COLD mine.  The place, Ashland Tunnel and Train had two tours. We only went on the train.  However, it was the wrong one and no matter how long we waited, it wouldn't move.  That's what I get from listening to Marilyn.

We checked out a local eatery in the area call Mine Shaft Cafe and met the owner, Cory Machese.  There was this picture of a mother above us at the table.  Something having to do with a statue in town.  I was too busy watching Marilyn's klepto problem to find out.

We decided to stay overnight in the town of Barto and so glad we did.  It was a place called Landhaven owned by Donna and Ed Land. We saw a group called Frog Holler. Here, we were waiting for them to come onto the stage.

The next morning we had breakfast and met some of the humans staying overnight.

It turned out that Donna found a baby chicken that was really pale and undernourished.  They took her in as a foster daughter.  I convinced them that we could adopt her, being that Esther and Eunice also adopted a baby.   We named her Mildred and she had her first breakfast with us.

Time to leave for Reading.  We checked into the Homewood Suites and took a nap before dinner. Hearing that the entire bedding is fully stripped and washed we were clear that Mildred would not get any germs.

Judy's on Cherry Street was our dining spot.  Not sure but I think we have a spy following us. She pretends not to see us.

After a great night's sleep we had breakfast.

Mildred made her first friend named Goat.

There was an alpaca farm in the area and we just had to go.  It's called Take2Alpacas.  I had a conversation with one of them. Marilyn wanted to steal one of the other ones as she attempted to make a deal.

Our next big stop was a place called Goggleworks.  They used to make goggles at this warehouse that is now a space for artists.  We spent some time talking with some of the artists, posing for photos and even getting an art lesson.

One other place on our list to visit was the Reading Public Museum.  It has a museum, arboretum and planetarium.  We only visited the museum to see lots of artwork.

We then met Lisa Haggerty who invited us for lunch at Say Cheese.

Before going back to New Yolk, we went to a place called Philadelphia Pretzel Factory.  We tried a pretzel and bought a batch to take home.

Esther and Eunice were really surprised to see Mildred.
